Tips on How to Use Ylang Ylang Mindfully

  1. Diffuse for 15–20 minutes mid-afternoon to shift the emotional tone of your space. Ylang Ylang’s creamy floral aroma calms racing thoughts, lowers heart rate, and invites softness into the moment. It’s a gentle way to recover from overstimulation and emotional heaviness.

  2. Apply to pulse points diluted. Mix 1 drop with a teaspoon of jojoba or almond oil and dab onto the heart, wrists, or back of the neck. This practice is like anointing yourself with presence. It’s a moment to reconnect with sensuality, self-trust, and inner steadiness.

Note: Always patch test. Do not apply undiluted.

  3. Soak in a bath of ease or feet soaking tub. Add 1 drop of Ylang Ylang essential oil to a tablespoon of Epsom salts or full cream milk, then stir into warm water. This is a midweek exhale soothing emotional tension, inviting reconnection with your body.

  4. Layer in natural perfume. Ylang Ylang is a luxurious heart note, sitting right in the center of a fragrance. Pair it with Bergamot, Patchouli, or Sandalwood. It lends a lush, sensual energy that helps a blend feel grounded and elegant as it evolves.

  5. Role in Perfumery Ylang Ylang is a heart note; the emotional core of a scent. It carries a lush, full-bodied floral character that brings depth, intimacy, and sensual warmth. In perfumery, heart notes act as the bridge between the freshness of top notes and the grounding presence of base notes. Ylang Ylang performs this beautifully. It softens bright citrus like Bergamot and creates harmony when paired with deeper woods or resins.

Ingestion? Not recommended. Unlike citrus oils found in teas, Ylang Ylang is not traditionally ingested. If you’re considering it, consult a qualified aromatherapist.

Caution: Never ingest essential oils without expert guidance.
